Two years total of teaching experience
In her own words…
“Everything they learn and in my
classroom helps prepare them for a technical, two-year, or four-year degree,
with a belief that they are graduating from a higher education school not to
leave their family and community in the dust, but to help make zip code 77080 a
better place.”
In the words of others…
“For Spring Branch ISD to reach T-2-4
for its children . . . we will need to create even stronger classroom cultures
throughout the system – cultures that foster excellence in all our children,
including those who struggle the most. We will need leadership from teachers
and leaders throughout the system – whether they are veteran teachers or
relatively new. We will need teachers who are willing to extend their impact
beyond their own classrooms and schools to help the rest of the system. Ms.
Katie Gentry reflects all three.”
– Elliott Witney, Strategic Leadership & Innovation
Executive Director
“Katie has an amazing rapport with her
students. Her classroom runs like clockwork, kids know what to expect and the
routines and procedures are there each and every day. Katie tracks her
students’ progress, and her students track their own progress so that students
are involved in their own progress . . . Katie is an exemplary teacher who is
very deserving of [this] nomination and award.”
