In her own words…
“My teaching philosophy is simple, yet
passionate. I run an organized classroom, based on how the students wish to
learn and inquire. Students of mine understand their importance to me and learn
that with the support of a caring teacher, they can become a successful student
and citizen. It is a teacher’s responsibility to set high expectations for
their students because our students today are our future. I believe with this
philosophy, I am creating prosperous, well-rounded members of society.”
In the words of others…
“Mrs. Thompson is a team player and has
served on a variety of committees for Westchester, including a leadership role
on the Campus Improvement Team and the 7th Grade English Language
Arts and Social Studies team. Mrs. Thompson’s passion for our students extends
beyond her work in the classroom, and includes efforts to enhance the
social-emotional learning opportunities for our student body.”
–Jennifer Collier, WAIS Director
“Mrs. Thompson incorporates strategies
from various reading, writing and social studies staff development sessions to
create exciting and engaging lessons. From getting students to brainstorm
different ways to describe something and then incorporate those ideas as they
write about their Book Club book to having students create advertisements to
encourage new settlers to come to Texas.”
