In her own words . . .
“One of my favorite moments this year was when my class wanted to share with the principal about how they created a new “Be.” (At Buffalo Creek, we have the three Be’s—Be Safe, Be Responsible, and Be Respectful.) My class wanted to add a fourth “Be,” which is “Be Ready to Learn.” They felt it was important to share with the school what we had been working on in class.”
In the words of others . . .
“Mrs. Salas is young, but, boy, is the future so very bright! I see our Buffalo Creek Teacher of the Year going places . . . though I hope it’s not anytime soon! OK, I’m selfish because I recognize the difference and impact she is having on our students’ lives.”
- David Rodriguez, Buffalo Creek Elementary Principal
“Cassie maintains high expectations for her students—even those struggling with reading and math skills—and she has worked closely with her [students’] parents to support learning. She is a very optimistic and hopeful person, and she lives her life surrounded by her passion for her students and life. This year, Cassie faced a major health crisis when she was diagnosed with cancer. She has handled the treatment and its impact on her life and the lives of her students with grace and dignity.”
- Clarice Franke, Buffalo Creek Elementary Assistant Principal
