In her own words . . .

“My teaching process involves introducing students to artists as inspiration, demonstrations, draw-a-longs for younger grades and helping students along on their creative process. I do my best to answer their questions with a question so they are working to find their own answer and build confidence in not only their art making, but in their creative process as well.”

In the words of others . . .

“As our art teacher, she makes sure her students are engaged and interested in stretching themselves as learners and artists. Her classroom is both an ActivBoard-Technology rich classroom as well as informational. She does not hesitate to engage digital devices to enhance the learning experience and showing of their work in her blog.”

Beth Woodson, Memorial Drive Elementary Assistant Principal

“Debbie’s lesson plans are very well prepared and always of the highest quality; they reflect her enthusiasm and commitment to go above and beyond what is expected. Debbie not only guides her students to showcase their proud achievements, such as the school hallway art displays and district-wide art shows, but she also encouragingly supports her students to participate in out-of-district shows, such as exhibits at Houston’s Museum of Natural Science Butterfly Center.”
Gina Dixon, Memorial Drive Elementary Music Specialist
