In her own words . . .
“By working at a very diverse school having grades six all the way up to 12, I am so blessed to see my students’ progress from year to year. They still stop by to say, ‘Hi,’ remind me of some funny story that happened in sixth grade, and in the end I get to walk down the aisle on their Graduation Day. I can only hope they realize the impact they have all had on my life and how they have all made it possible for me to become a great teacher, wife, and in the future, a mother.”
“She has developed a unique learning opportunity for students by helping pilot a yearly trip to Pine Cove, where all students go overnight to camp and learn about nature and science through real-life experiences. The learning, collaborative spirit and true excitement that you see in the children when they return from this experience is something that truly impacts their school experience for the remainder of their schooling.”
- Jennifer Collier, Westchester Academy Director
“Ms. Canney arranged for the Mobile Oilfield Learning Unit to come to school. This program is sponsored by various oil companies. Students participated in hands-on stations learning more about petroleum and the oil industry.”
